(Salt Lake City, UT--November 12, 2001)-
Vivienne Joyce Thom, Commissioner of Patents, Commonwealth of Australia, has granted a Standard Patent
to Bruce Ewert, CEO of IXR, Inc. Patent number 735562, titled "Dynamic real time exercise video apparatus
and method," has a term of 20 years commencing on October 3, 1997. The priority date is October 4, 1996.
IXR believes this patent will further protect intellectual property Mr. Ewert has spent the last
fifteen years developing. In combination with the two issued United States patents and an under-review
Canadian patent application, IXR's physio-interactive video technology will have strong protection
in most of the English-speaking world.
IXR's breakthrough Exerscape™ technology provides an unmatched level of realism
by seamlessly varying the video rate of high-quality MPEG2 video. As Jim
Taylor, noted author of "DVD Demystified", stated, "Exerscape is an unparalleled
advancement of stunning simplicity." Originally conceived and invented by IXR
founder Bruce Ewert, Exerscape™ enables high-quality digital video speed to
be manipulated at will. Mr. Ewert, with his Speilbergian visage and varied
sporting and technologic background, notes "this is another step of our quest
to enthrall users as we continue to push the frontiers of realistic
POV capture and user-driven displays, with real-time Internet connectivity!"
The Blackburn Motivator Interactive Real Video Training System is the first product based
on the Exerscape™ variable rate digital video technology invented by IXR Corp.
Exerscape smoothly varies the video speed under the control of the wheel speed.
As you pedal faster, you go faster through the helmet cam video filmed on location. Self-selected
music, played from the Internet or a CD, enhances the Exerscape experience. Workout data is
saved for review. The Exerscape.com Web
database will enable users to share their workout information with coaches, rehabilitation
specialists, and others.
The Motivator is now for sale at Blackburn dealers for a suggested retail price
of $399. It requires a 400 Mhz PC with Windows 98 or newer and a DVD ROM drive. An included hardware link connects
the bicycle to
the PC, transmitting speed and (optionally) heart rate to the Exerscape video program. The included first disc
contains 18 rides in Moab, Utah, Monterey, California, and Paris-Roubaix, France, for a total of over three hours
of healthy entertainment.
