Blackburn Motivator To Top Tech Gear List
Blackburn and Triathlete Magazine To Hold Motivator Giveaway Contest
(SALT LAKE CITY, UT March 23, 2001)- Triathlete
Magazine, the leading multisport monthly publication, has named the Exerscape-equipped
Blackburn Motivator Interactive Real Video Training System
to its list of Top Tech Gear. The Top Tech Gear article is featured in the
April, 2001 issue of Triathlete Magazine. In conjunction with the parallel
launch of the new Triathletemag.com
website, powered by Active.com, Blackburn and Triathlete Magazine are giving
away a free Motivator to visitors that sign up before May 31, 2001.
April, 2001 Triathlete Magazine
Blackburn Motivator is the first product based on the patented Exerscape™
physio-interactive video technology invented by IXR Corp. Exerscape
smoothly varies the video speed under the control of the wheel speed. As you
pedal faster, you go faster. The included DVD ROM features 18 rides, a total
of over three hours of full screen video, filmed on location in Moab, Monterey,
Paris-Roubaix, and the Tour de France. Workout data is automatically monitored
and saved for review. The Exerscape.com Web database will enable users to
share their workout information with coaches, rehabilitation specialists,
and others. The Motivator system requires a DVD PC with Windows 98 or better,
a minimum of 350 MHz, 32 Mb RAM, and 10 Mb free disk space. An Internet connection
is required to utilize the Exerscape.com Web database feature. More information
may be found on the trainers page of the Blackburn website at
www.blackburndesign.com.
To capture Exerscape's high-quality video double-Emmy winning cinematographer
Tom Grissom rode a motorcycle while wearing a helmet camera behind Olympic
medalist Susan DeMattei, professional mountain bike racer Carmen Richardson,
and 1999 US Professional Champion Marty Jemison. Visually stunning, Exerscape
mentally transports users to beautiful places and famous races, controlling
the video speed by pedaling faster or slower. Future versions will dynamically
control the resistance level, based on the presence of hills in the video.
A growing library of WebDVD titles will follow at a $40 price point.
IXR's breakthrough Exerscape technology provides an unmatched level of realism
by seamlessly varying the video rate of high-quality MPEG2 DVD video. As Jim
Taylor, noted author of "DVD Demystified", stated"Exerscape is an unparalleled
advancement of stunning simplicity." Originally conceived of and invented
by IXR founder Bruce Ewert, DVD Live™ enables high-quality digital video speed
to be manipulated at will. Mr. Ewert, with his Speilbergian resemblance and
varied sporting and technologic background, notes "this is just the first
step of where we want to take users as we continue to push the frontiers of
realistic POV capture and user-driven displays, with real-time Internet connectivity!"
IXR, Inc. is a private software development company based in Salt Lake City,
Utah. Based in Santa Cruz, California, Bell Sports is one of the largest accessory
